Right-hander Aaron Crow, taken by the Washington Nationals with the ninth overall pick in baseball’s amateur draft, has signed with the Forth Worth Cats of the American Association. The Cats said Thursday that the Big 12 pitcher of the year and would pitch out of the bullpen unless he agrees to a deal with the Nationals before Friday’s midnight deadline for draft picks to sign.

Daniel Murphy added to his stellar start, homering and driving in three runs to help John Maine and the New York Mets rout the Washington Nationals 12-0 Wednesday night. Murphy went 3-for-6 and scored twice and is batting .467 (14-for-30) since being called up from Triple-A New Orleans on Aug. 2. CC Sabathia pitched a five-hitter to remain unbeaten with the Brewers and Milwaukee beat the Washington Nationals 5-0 on Friday night. It was the ninth straight win for Sabathia, who has not lost in 12 starts since June 5.
