Braves lose another 1-run game, 3-2 to Nats in 12 (AP)

The Atlanta Braves simply cannot win a one-run game. Felipe Lopez’s bases-loaded hit to left with no outs in the 12th lifted the Washington Nationals to a 3-2 victory over the Braves on Wednesday, dropping Atlanta to 0-9 in games decided by the slimmest possible margin. The Braves are the first team since the 2000 […]

Washington Nationals closer Chad Cordero will miss four to six weeks with a torn muscle in his right shoulder, the club announced Wednesday.

Nats RHP Cordero to be sidelined 4-6 weeks with lat injury (AP)

Nationals reliever Chad Cordero is expected to be sidelined for at least a month with a tear in a muscle below his pitching shoulder, although the team determined Wednesday he won’t need surgery. Cordero left Washington’s 6-3 victory over Atlanta on Tuesday night when he felt pain while throwing a pitch in the ninth inning.

Nationals RHP Cordero leaves with muscle injury (AP)

Nationals reliever Chad Cordero expects to head back to the disabled list after leaving Tuesday night’s 6-3 victory over the Braves after only 13 pitches with what was initially diagnosed as a strained lat muscle below his throwing shoulder. The right-hander called for a trainer to come to the mound after feeling something on what […]

Zimmerman’s 3 hits lead Nationals past Braves 6-3 (AP)

Slumping Ryan Zimmerman spent some time working with Barry Larkin before the game, and then had a season-high three hits, including a homer and tiebreaking two-run double, to lead the Washington Nationals past the Atlanta Braves 6-3 on Tuesday night. Zimmerman and Nick Johnson hit consecutive solo shots in the third inning off Tom Glavine, […]

Ray King refuses outright assignment, becomes free agent (AP)

Left-handed reliever Ray King elected to become a free agent Tuesday, when the Washington Nationals removed him from their 40-man roster and attempted to send him outright to Triple-A Columbus. The 34-year-old King made his last appearance for Washington last Wednesday, when he allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning in a 7-2 loss […]
