Johnson’s RBI double sparks Nationals’ 11-6 win over Phillies (AP)
The Washington Nationals took their late-inning act on the road. Nick Johnson’s tiebreaking RBI double off Tom Gordon highlighted a five-run ninth inning and the Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-6 Monday.

Joe Torre will be in Dodger blue. Joe Girardi will be the manager as Yankee Stadium hosts its final opener. Johan Santana will be pitching for the New York Mets, Torii Hunter will be playing center field for the Los Angeles Angels. Nationals OF Elijah Dukes placed on 15-day DL, Schroder recalled from Triple-A (AP)
Washington Nationals left fielder Elijah Dukes was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday after leaving the season opener with a tight right hamstring. The Nationals replaced Dukes on the roster by recalling right-handed pitcher Chris Schroder from Triple-A Columbus. Dukes left the 3-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves after grounding out in the fifth.
