Kasten: Nationals had no advance warning of names in Mitchell Report (AP)
The Washington Nationals broke their silence Monday on the Mitchell Report — without offering many details. “I know you want me to say something about Paul Lo Duca or Nook Logan,” team president Stan Kasten said at a news conference to discuss the report that detailed allegations of performance-enhancing drug use in baseball.

Nationals agree to minor league terms with LHP Ray King, INF Pete Orr (AP)
The Washington Nationals agreed Saturday to sign left-handed reliever Ray King and utility infielder Pete Orr to minor-league contracts. King made 55 appearances with the Nationals this year, often with the job of retiring just one left-handed hitter, before he was traded to Milwaukee on Sept. 4 for prospect Andrew Lefave.

Nationals sign Mackowiak, Harris; avoid arbitration with Colome (AP)
Free-agent utility players Rob Mackowiak and Willie Harris agreed to 2008 contracts Thursday with the Washington Nationals, who also avoided arbitration with reliever Jesus Colome by settling on a $1.25 million, one-year deal. Mackowiak, who played for the White Sox and Padres last season, will make $1.5 million.
