The Washington Nationals finally scored in the first inning. It took 23 games in 2007 for the Nationals to put up a run in their first at-bat, and it happened Friday night when Austin Kearns hit a three-run homer off New York Mets starter Oliver Perez for a 3-0 lead. Washington set an NL record by playing 22 games at the start of a season without scoring a first-inning run.
