Willie Harris and Rob Mackowiak homered to help the Washington Nationals beat Houston 8-3 Thursday night and end the Astros’ five-game winning streak. John Lannan (3-3) allowed seven hits in six innings and the Nationals snapped Houston’s eight-game winning streak at Minute Maid Park. Washington Nationals catcher Paul Lo Duca will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a broken right hand. Lo Duca broke the fourth metacarpal bone in his hand while batting in the seventh inning against Houston on Wednesday night. He just came off the DL last Friday after he was hit by a pitch and bruised the same hand on April 13.

Kaz Matsui has dramatically increased Houston’s team speed. On Wednesday night, he showed the Astros just how valuable his quickness can be. Matsui stole second and raced to third on a wild pitch before scoring the winning run on a single by Carlos Lee in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Astros to a 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals.

Carlos Lee drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Houston Astros to a 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night. Lee’s single, that flew just over the head of Lastings Milledge, scored Kaz Matsui and gave Houston its fifth straight victory. Matsui walked and stole second in the ninth before Joel Hanrahan (0-2) intentionally walked Lance Berkman.

Washington Nationals catcher Paul Lo Duca was injured while batting in the seventh inning against Houston on Wednesday night. He doubled over in pain after a swing and Nationals officials came out and looked at him on the field. He walked around for a couple of minutes, before leaving the field. It was unclear what his injury was.
